You don’t “any-old-how” (arbitrarily) remove the data! The 700M is only a rough estimation, an approximation. You have to search for the AVI file signature, which begins with “RIFF” (without the quote). Then you remove all the data before the signature.

The way that you phrase your sentence really pisses me off. Instead of saying that “hex editor is not working”, why don’t you say something like “i cannot get it to work using the hex editor”. That would be more fitting and appropriate, don’t you think? Do you even think before you say anything, or does nobody do that anymore!

When I downloaded this from filebase, it is about 1.4GB, not 1.8GB (maybe it had grown since then). I found out that approximately, the first 700M are rubbish data, so I use a hex editor and remove those junks.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, you’d be better off downloading from another source.
